House prices shoot up in Spain
THE PRICE OF HOUSES SHOOTS UP AND EXPERIENCES THE GREATEST RISE IN 15 YEARS
Prices rise in all sectors and also in the housing sector.
Housing prices continue their unstoppable trend and registered a rise of 8.5% in the first quarter compared to the same period in 2021. This is an increase two points higher than the previous quarter and the highest increase in 15 years, since the third quarter of 2007, according to data published this Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
New-build housing became four points more expensive, up to 10.4%, while second-hand housing rose 8.2%, almost two points above that registered the previous quarter, according to data published this Wednesday by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
By autonomous communities, the regions with the highest number of transmissions per 100,000 inhabitants were Comunitat Valenciana (159), Andalucía (149) and Cataluña (133).
The communities that presented the greatest annual increases in the number of home sales in April were Illes Balears (+33.3%), Canarias (+31.0%) and Castilla y León (+19.9%), while La Rioja (-9.9%), Comunidad de Madrid (-2.7%) and Extremadura (-2.4%) registered the greatest decreases.
